Degradable plastics to grow at 17% until 2010 in USA

Degradable plastics are predicted to grow by 17% in USA, reaching consumption levels of almost 225,000 tons and market value of US$610 million in 2010. Average prices will continue to decline as a result of higher capacity and greater production efficiencies, as well as price mixes reflecting fastest growth for the lowest priced resins. Degradable plastic applications are also being expanded by enhanced performance properties brought about by more sophisticated polymerization and blending techniques.
