Thermoplastic wood composites have grown well only in North America

Fillers have been used in the plastic industry for a long time as a means of supplementing polymer with materials such as wood chips, sawdust, mica and fiberglass. Fillers are mainly used for two reasons: As a cost saving measure, replacing the expensive polymers with less expensive fillers, and to alter the mechanical properties of the original material. In 2000, the plastics industry was estimated to have used 2.5 mln tons of fillers, growing to 3.5 mln tons in 2006, as per a report by Chemsystems. For more details please click on the following link
